Good morning Nick – I’m Scott from Indianapolis. Our beloved Q95 (WFBQ – 94.7 FM) just started carrying your show (2 hour version). WOW! I love it. I love the music selection. I love the stories and historical info. I love the production feel of the show. I’ll be tuning in every Sunday morning from here on out and also will be petitioning the station to carry the 4 hour version of the show.

Dear Nick,
I hope many people are taking the time to respond to what you've been doing with your radio show. The "music that mattered" indeed! While I usually keep the radio on while I'm at work on Saturday morning for background noise ( and let me tell you that the classic rock station's shallow rehash of "seventies at seven" gets to be lame white noise pretty quick), I was startled to hear "Orange County Lumber Truck" leap out of my cheap little boombox! Your anecdotal research with smoooooth vocal delivery demands a listener’s attention, and rewards us with cuts that we haven't heard in ages. Thank you for making the music of that era "fresh" again, it will always matter to many of us. Your audience loves what you're doing.
Doug, from Portland, Maine
Nick,
Just wanted to check in and say hello. What an excellent show you have. Where else are you going to hear the long version of "Devil with a Blue Dress On" (don't even hear that here in Detroit believe or not), and "Time Has Come Today"? I told my oldest daughter about "Time" just last night and then I get to hear it this morning because of you. THANKS AGAIN!!! Take care.
Peace, Tony
It is simply the best two hours of radio! With all my thanks and best wishes, Peter
Nick: Thank you for playing “the music that matters”. You have truly struck a chord with me. I know this may sound Cliché, but it does sound like you have gotten into my ipod. I love music and music trivia. I love almost all genres of music. I believe that music does not have to be a certain type, just good. I listen to you on 100.7 The River in Raleigh , NC . I am also letting them know how much I appreciate your show.
Mike
Dear Nick, I heard your show for the first time a couple of weeks ago and am so happy to find a program that plays diverse and interesting music, not just the commercial stuff. I had just about given up on radio but will look for your show now. Thanks.
Pat from Rockville, MD
Hello Nick
I listen to you on CHOM FM in Montreal. In its heyday, CHOM was THE underground progressive rock station...from a 'time when music mattered'. Your show captures that time beautifully and brings back songs that I haven't heard in decades. I was in high school and university then and can easily recall what I was doing, who I was dating and what I was studying when I hear your music. I am now 53, a senior aerospace engineer with college age kids. Keep up the great sounds, bring back more lost classics, and keep those years alive. Your commentaries and introductions to each song are what are SO lacking in today's music scene.
Terry
Hi Nick. I look forward to hearing some of the really obscure stuff that you mentioned--especially the pre-Buckingham/Nicks Fleetwood Mac stuff. I listen on "Big 100.3" in the DC area every Saturday night: The whole four hour show. It's become a Saturday night tradition for my husband and me. It's great to have an escape from oppressively DULL classic rock radio, and iPods are great, but I love RADIO, y'know?
Leenie
Hi Nick, I just wanted to drop you a line to say how much I love your show. It is consistently excellent, and really demonstrates the difference between today’s disposable outlook on music vs. music written with purpose and emotion that still resonates today, regardless of the passage of time. Bravo for delivering what is arguably the best two hours anyone can spend next to their radio every week.
John.
Hip Hip Hooray to the coolest radio show on the planet!!! My wife and I make a point to listen each and every week. Being a former DJ back in the early to mid 1980's (small bars & niteclubs) I thought that I knew most everything about songs and artists and the accompanying trivia and tidbits that go with them. But each week Mr. Nick Michaels puts me in my place and teaches me about some of the little history behind each artist and song that he plays. Yes, definitely back to a time when music mattered. Keep up the terrific work!!!
Barry
Faithful Listener
Mr. Michaels,
Let me just say that it was so refreshing to hear your show! I am so sick of hearing "Hotel California", "more than a feeling" or "Baba O'Riley" on so called "classic rock" stations. I love the deeper cuts, the not so commercial songs that are often better than the charted songs. As a former dj, and avid rock historian (at least I think I am), I can understand exactly why this program is necessary. Please keep up the great work and keep those "deeper cuts" coming!!!!
Sincerely, Bill
This summer I was in a bad car accident on Friday July the 13th. (I'm okay now) I broke four ribs and bruised a lung. Needless to say, sleeping wasn't at all pleasant. I had to prop myself up in a chair and take lots of Advil. The Saturday after the wreck, I discovered your show on KLOS 95.5. What a life saver! You really helped to pass the painful nights away. Thank you. I love your blend of R&B and Rock n' Roll. Now, I usually drift off to sleep listening. I turned my twelve year old son onto the broadcast out of Santa Barbara, Sunday evenings at 4:00. For a kid he's got a great appreciation of classic rock. When the song "Homburg" came on, my son piped up; "Is that Procol Harum?" What a kid!
Because of you I've downloaded and purchased music, I'd all but forgotten about; "The Souther, Hillman, Furay Band", Karla Bonoff, Laura Nyro, Buddy Miles, Harry Chapin and "Spanky and Our Gang" to name but a few. Plus! it was great to hear favorites of mine, Fogelberg, Zevon, Traffic et al, get the airplay they so richly deserve! You do a great job of selecting music.
Thanks again for putting out such a weird and wonderful show. You've messed up my sleep cycle in a good way. And to a Forty-year old man and his twelve-year old son, "The music still matters."
All Good Things to You and Yours,
Michael
Dear Nick, While incarcerated at FDC Miami I started listening to the show. This was over a year ago. Others started listening. Women who NEVER cry cried when you played WHITE BIRD. We never thought of race as we listened to Otis Redding I'VE BEEN LOVING YOU TOO LONG. During that summer evening we were just women listening to the music. Thanks to your show, for one year on Sun. evenings from 6-8, I was free. Although physically free now I'm just a little bit freer when I'm in the DEEP END.
Peace & Love, June
Dear Nick,
I have to tell you how much I've loved the past few weeks of " The Deep End ." Thank you for playing so many of my favorite bands and songs. Hearing all these wonderful album tracks or hits that have been, for some inexplicable reason, abandoned by mainstream radio really touches me. I came of age during the 60s and early 70s and remember when Top 40 actually meant they played all of the Top 40. During The Golden Age of FM Radio era, I loved the vast diversity of styles, artists and songs that were aired. Doesn't it seem sad that, as technology has expanded possibilities and radio should be the best it has ever been, the options and playlists have gotten narrower and shorter? Thank you for a program that keeps alive the memory of how radio once was and shows how it could and should be today.
I love the surprises " The Deep End " always includes. Thanks for all the stories and music.
Peace,
Diane
Nick I ‘m from Florida and I listen to the show every week. I can only catch the first 2 hours on my local station but enjoy the show tremendously. I enjoy the mix, like going from Joni Mitchell to the Isley Brothers to Van Morrison to the Chairmen of the board. Keep the mix and the awesome stories coming.
Jeremy
I just finished sending an e-mail to my local radio station letting them know how much I enjoy your show. I thought I would give you the same feedback. I have been working a lot of extra time where I work and this includes most Sundays. This is where I first heard The Deep End with Nick Michaels. I listen to the radio at work on weekends and happened on your show one Sunday. I will tell you that in a weird sort of way, I now look forward to these Sundays when I can listen to your show. It is without a doubt the best focused compilation show I have heard. The background and lead-in information make the music that much more meaningful. Having lived through the era the show focuses on, I appreciate hearing the tracks not normally heard on the radio. If I have one suggestion, it is that the show is too short. I listen to the four hour version in Phoenix, and that is just not enough. Keep it coming. Please keep up the great job. You have a dedicated listener here.
Chuck
I could keep it simple and say Thanks, but I can’t. Nick, I must say that the only 2 hours of truly brilliant music that I get is your show on Sunday mornings. I’m 47 years old and I hate the state of commercial radio today. True on-air talents (such as you) just aren’t around anymore. Someone that explores music for the joy of it, someone that’s able to find those special gems that are buried on the album (disc). Thanks, once again for all you do to make radio special. Always look forward to hearing you.
Mario
Dear Nick, Thank you so much for doing this. My friend in Phoenix just told me about your show. Yesterday was the second time I listened. To hear Clapton getting a guitar lesson was indeed, very cool. Again, thank you for your work.
Cheri
I am listening to The Deep End, this morning and had to say thank you so much Nick Michaels and whoever else helps with it. The selection is wonderful, I live in savoy IL and listen on 105.9 I hope you get this email. Thanks. This morning it helped me.
